This Compartment Lock Upgrade gives you a lock and key set from a series of 50 variants–making it highly unlikely that someone in the campground has the same locks you do.

In addition to keeping your stuff more secure, our lock replaces faded or damaged black latches with beautiful, shiny chrome ones. The new latches match other chrome trim on your trailer and the finish will last much longer. Made of zinc alloy, and chrome plated.

Each Compartment Lock comes with a key that will work with every lock purchased. You will get one key per lock. This "single key access" is part of our One-Key Exterior Door System, which is compatible with the AIR GEAR Battery Box & Utility Door Locks. When you choose the same lock number for each lock upgrade type, all compartment and utility doors will open with a single key.

These lock upgrades fit aluminum-bodied Airstream trailers from model year 2015 and later. They do not fit Basecamp, Nest, Interstate, Rangeline or Atlas.
BEFORE YOU ORDER: Please verify that the compartment latches on your Airstream look like the ones on this product page. If they don't, this upgrade kit won't work for your Airstream.

Easy install, reused existing bar so no adjustments were needed.
These sturdy locks are pretty awesome and they look great on the Airstream. I also appreciated the instruction material for the installation.
Added the upgraded latches for security. Very attractive and appear to be well made and high quality. When installing, the adjustments for door tightness when latched and for latching stiffness ( 2 different adjustments on each latch bolt) are quite critical for the latch to operate and close smoothly and properly. In my closeup of the latch, the top 2 nuts adjust the depth of the latch arm against the back of the storage opening and how tightly the door is secured. The bottom nut adjusts so that the latch bolt is held straight when latched… if too loose the latch will not close correctly on the outside, if too tight the latch will be difficult to flip down and up. Once these adjustments were made to each latch, they opened and closed as smoothly as the stock latches. Unfortunately not much help with this with the instructions. Simply a matter of trial and error and comparing the old latch depth to the new ones.

The product is visually appealing, but my purchase decision was driven by a hope for improved quality compared to what originally came with our rig. Unfortunately, I’m concerned that the lock may end up getting stuck just like the original.

The main reason I bought these locks is to get a different key other than the one used on all other Airsteams. A great benefit is that these locks were very easy to install, and look fantastic. I recommend them completely.
Obviously a quality product just by the look and feel of them. I can't say they function better than the OEM latches aside from the unique key code. It was easy to "install" each lock but I have found it very challenging to "fine tune." There are several adjustments which compensate for (1) length of pull, (2) tightness of latching , and (3) final position of the latch when locked down. These adjustments are temperamental at best, and frustrating at worst. I have them all properly latching (1) and (2), but the latches themselves will not lay flat in the closed position. The latch clasp stops short of lying flush against the surface of the latch body for some reason I cannot deduce and they look odd like that. They will still lock with the key. ,But they end up sticking out which doesn't look right and doesn't feel secure. To get the hasp to sit flush the latch ends up being too loose for my comfort level. In my second photo you can see one latch hasp is flush and the other one is sticking up.

The lock does not "lock". The latch is too short. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM. Air Gear customer service was absolutely terrible. I was told to just use pieces from the original lock which were of course discarded after I installed the replacement lock. I was told, "sorry for your luck". Fortunately, there are more reputable vendors for my Airstream needs.

Store owner replied: We're sorry you had a frustrating experience with this product. The lock does "lock" when the correct cam is used. Our installation instructions explain the need to reuse the original cam when installing the new lock, if your cam looks different than the two cams we include with the product. Only a small number of trailers require that the old cam be reused, and unfortunately yours is one of those. The cams used in these trailers are not commercially available as a single part, which is why we aren't able to offer them to customers.
I have not installed my new locks yet. They look wonderful sitting in the box, though. Airstream is in for service 45 miles from my home. So, give me 45 days and then ask me how impressed I am with them.

Switched out mine on our 2023 International 28RBQ. Easy installation, took all of 10 minutes. Looks way better, great upgrade!!👍
I changed all 6 of the locks on my Flying Cloud. The change was easy to do. They look great! Very pleased with them. I would have changed them sooner, but Eleanor was in the shop for 2 months getting work done.
These locks are a necessary upgrade! They are sturdy and look great on the trailer! It is comforting to have one key for all the outdoor compartment locks (4), and to know that it is a unique key! The Air Gear service is the best, too! Responsive, helpful, and friendly!

Easy to install, looks great! Did all 6 in about 20 minutes! FYI my lock sets came with new gaskets too, some have said they had to use the old existing ones but not so on my new ones. Very pleased with the look and feel of them.
I like knowing that not everyone that owns an Airstream has the same key to the rear compartment that I do. They were easy to install, and have nice solid and secure feel to them. They also look much nicer than the stock locks.
I love the security of a lock not being keyed with every other Airstream lock not to mention it looks great!

The new compartment locks are definitely like advertised, more solid, adds more security, looks great, and easy to install. If I was nitpicking, I wished the instructions would clarify you need to adjust the setting nut on the screw to create a tight seal on the compartment door.
Easy swap, works great
This was a top shelf , excellent experience with Air Gear. We discovered these locks about a week before we were leaving to travel 1400 miles to Tallahassee to get the airstream ceramic glass coated at Vinnie’s in Florida. We wanted them on before that coating happened. Outstanding customer service and extra effort by Air Gear got us those locks in Minn from New Mexico in only 2 days . We installed them in time and they are now part of our ceramic glass coating ! Sharp looking…a unique key that only we have for all compartments , and super easy install all made this whole upgrade awesome!!! Thank you for the efforts !!! We love Air Gear!!

I really like the the latches. Air gear was awesome. I was a little disappointed in that I had to use some of my original components but paid for new components. Thanks for the rubber gaskets because out of 4 that I changed out only 1 had the the gasket. Thanks again. Great video

I bought this to replace a broken latch. Well made and easily installed. Planning on replacing the remaining latches with these.
